Yamaha R15 Vs Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi

The engine capacity is different but has the same power and grunt. You might want to think carefully before investing your money on these bikes. The reasons being they are very costly and lack performance. The R15 has the looks and power like racer but the cost of the bike is very high. On the other hand you have power but not the feel. The cost of the Pulsar is very low compared to the R15. As said both the weak points are covered by one another.

The R15 quickly accelerates than the Pulsar. It has a top whack of 145kmph which is quite decent for a 150cc bike. Other than decent it is best as this output is not being delivered by a 150cc bike. On the other hand the Pulsar also does a top whack of 145kmph with ease. Both of them need to red line before making it to 145kmph. One more attractive point about both of them is the gear pattern. The R15 has six gears which means pick up and top speed is achieved in systematized manner. On the other hand the Pulsar has 5 speed gear box which is same like the old one. Red line gear change ensures they give maximum out put which is 145kmph. The fastest Indian does not carry the same tab again. In a straight line drag the Pulsar will go ahead of the R15 but later on will be overtaken by the R15.
Balancing act
The Pulsar is edgy when it comes to handling in traffic. It might not be easy to ride but maneuvering is simple. Since it has 5 speed gear box the first gear churns out very good output which throttles the bike to 40kmph. Seating position on the Pulsar is not that great since its clips are not located at the right location. On the other hand the R15 does a perfect job in delivering the right riding posture. The rider is in comfortable position all the time when he is on the R15. Cornering both the bikes is not a problem since they are made for race situations.
Mileage
The Pulsar is not that great when it comes to economy. All the previous versions are not that great petrol churners. The Pulsar returns a fuel economy of 30 to 35kmpl. On the other hand the R15 delivers very decent average of 40kmpl. The reason for more average is due to the low engine capacity.
Time to go to the ATM
The Yamaha R15 is costly but definitely the best option when it comes to performance and looks. If you have some money crunch then the Pulsar will give you equated performance. It will fail in ride quality with some economy too.

Oh my God!! what a blunderfull post, half of the information posted is incorrect. To quote some “The Pulsar has superb control on turns. The Yamaha has the capacity to blast like a rocket on straights.”
Its the other way around actually.
you have also stated that pulsar 220 has 2 cyliders in the specification table..
please correct them. There are many more

I will go with the comment of indian… information is wrong… Pulsar 220 will thrash out R15 in terms of performance.. but if u look for Handling and reliability my vote is for R15…Before u put ur money on any of the 2 …just think .. If u r for performace in city go for the Pulsar. R15 is a good bike for highways and race tracks…. but if u think of practicality i will go for pulsar…R15 is not good for long rides.. CC maters Guys… R15 is technically advanced bike.. But every penny matters!.. i would rather wait for the 4 valve pulsar… It should perform better and a 6th cog will be a added benefit.. Will bajaj think about this?

Hi i m sumit from mathura.i used both bikes within 1 year.first of all i used both bikes in long route.the engine of pulser 220 is great.it can u satisfy any condition in indian climate.great pickup-it covers 1st gear 49km/h and using 3rd gear it cover 112 km/h within a second.i cover delhi to kanpur(494 km) within 6 hr.it’s non-stop bike yaar.and give me amazing milleage 40 to 46 km/l within 120 speed. top speed is 141km/hr.the bike more stable in this speed without any viberation. but it wants 6th gear and its engine become heated soonly. but overall its great bike for india for indian road.u trust them. tyres also best.it have no punctured within a year.

yamaha R15 is fantastic bike.great pickup rapidly covered 115 km/h speed.fresh looking good technolgy compare to pulser 220.top speed is 125 km/hr not bad.avg gives 40 to 45.but tyre is very small.but good stable in high speed.but it is not longroute bike at high speed

pulsar 220dtsi is the idol bike for ay bike lover. In case of performance wise or in economy the pulsar 220dtsi is better. with the help of 22 bhp engine the pulsar 220dtsi achieve 0-120 very quickly and give around 38-40km/l average. on the other hand karizma gives 25-28km/l and R15 gives 25km/l. I only say that the pulsar 220dtsi is the king of Indian Roadsdue to his qualities and performance.

The post is complete crap. Pulsar has 2 cylinders?????? hahaha…..r15 has a top whack of 145 kmph??? Dude get a life. The r15 has a top whack of 130 kmph with a 75 kg rider. The P220 is ok in corners but straight-line acceleration is its fortray. r15 is a dream handler but straight-line velocity depends on wind conditions and rider weight. The P220 is a much better bet than the r15 in a city like Bombay. The writer doesn’t know jack about bikes which is evident from his stupidity in the form of this post.

Conclusion:
1.The P220 vibrates at higher rpm
2. Handling is poor(nearly cost my life)
3. Though the initial pickup is quick,to climb 100 from 86 is rather slow.
4. Appreciate the power on hilly roads.
5. best lighting compared to R15.

As for the R15..one will have to ride it to feel it. It talks. The engine is smooth even at higher rpm,the balance WOW. Braking is excellent, really a very refined engine.
well it’s a sports bike… it needs to be handled differently to get the most out of it. For riding the R15 one has to relearn his riding habits.

yamaha r 15 is the best bike in spots look however the pulsar 220 has not a good looking like a spots bike i think spots bikes r down from front side then the back side when we look pulsar 220 in double stand its looks like a ordinary bike however r15 has h great look because yamaha is the best company for making sports bike in world r15 has a great speed in 150 cc engine there is no competition in 150cc engine how ever the pulsar has 220 cc engine and top speed like r15 if the r15 has the engine 220 cc engine then it can beat the new cbr in 250 engine

Think one thing yamaha’s engine is japan made and bajaj’s is a local one.so we have to expect only that much. i am an owner of 220.its very hard to control in traffic according to r15.r15 is a 150cc bike but its still compitating with 220cc bikes from that we can under stand the power of YAMAHA.if yamaha launch a bike with 220cc bajaj manufactures will go home.

Oh my god yaar, what is this comparison my Pulsar 220F does 54kmph in 1st gear, 80kmph in 2nd gear, 108kmph in 3rd gear, 131kmph in 4th gear and i have not tested in 5th, soon i’ll give the result dont compare R15 to Pulsar 220

Hey guys u juz check out de new YAMAHA R15 ver 2.0. . . Its changed a lot.. new tail piece with LED lights , wider tyres , proper split seats , mud guards , ECU , wider disc 4 efficient braking… Now its really a sports bike.. Luks so gooood n sexy tooo… Go 4 it.. N drills up 220.

pulser220 is the best bike in all Indian bikes to compare the bikes R15 and zmr. bajaj p220f is the most powerful bike in all sports bike engine power, 220cc disapliment and the bike is the highly speed 145-150kmph is the best mileage 35-40 km pl in highway is the compalsary true in these 220cc.the great indian bike of bajaj.

Both the bikes are good. I m gonna tell u the gear ratio of both the bikes. 1st gear. R15 = 49. P220= 52. 2nd gear r15= 70 p220= 89. 3rd gear r15= 90. P220 =105 4th gear r15=118 .p220 =132. 5th gear r15=130 p220 =145. 6th gear r15=144. I personally have experienced the performance of these bikes. Who’s the best? Ans= go for yamaha r15 v2. The best looking bike in india.

pulsar koi kharid ta hai kya? Pulsar sirf tum logo ko power aur pick up dega bas khus raho. But as the amount of money we pay for R15 u r aswell getting the complete package of looks, technology, power, suspension and most importantly… admiration from chicks which i like most. Pulsar 220 har jaga local ‘city bus’ ki tarah yaha waha dikta rehta hai. Kabhi trafic me sab bikers k beech se r15 chalao toh sab mur mur k dekhte hai. Aur kya bhp bhp dikha k kya koi larki pataoge? Zinda rehna hai than u hav to ride safe. Its not dat i m afraid of racing infact i did contest wit one 220f(red), he flew away instantly in such a heavy trafcic maybe he is fool but later i saw him met with an accident and falling under a city drain. (Guwahati city, assam) maybe something wrong with his bike or himself so i won the race. I love my life, my R15(còöl blue), my chicks and all my friends^_^ so frenz happy riding.. Enjoy!

I have already buy r15 n pulsar 220f but i think pulsar is the bst bcoz i ride this bike
n the top speed of this bike is 163kmph and when i ride this bike in economy speed,
it gives the milage 47kmpl; where as i ride yamaha r15 the top speed is 142kmph and it gives the milage 34kmpl in economy speed. The major drawback of yamaa bike is it’s headlight lamps are less clear visible in night in compair to bajaj pulsar220f.so all of you guies decide that which bike is best for roads..

You people are comparing a 220 cc, 24 Bhp engine with a 150 cc, 17 Bhp engine….
That alone proves the worth of R15…

bajaj pulsar 220 and yamaha r15 is the good competeter but all the point is bajaj 220 parts is very cheap and yamaha r15 parts are very expensive but overall bajaj 220 is the best option for indian youngster and value for money. because i have bajaj pulsar 220cc bike…………..

Firstly the original comparison given is completely inaccurate. Yamaha R15 is a very good highly priced bike. Unfortunately, it lacks initial pick-up which should have been a must for the bike of this look. The road grip is very good with no heating and vibrations at all at high speeds. This bike really starts spitting its power after 7000-8000 rpm and not before that. I would say the initial pick-up may be same as the pulsar 150. As far as the durability is concerns R15 aces over P220.
I am the owner of R15, Though i have not ridden p220,for the huge price difference, p220 offers much more than R15. My personal advice is if you are affording anything over 1 lakh, i suggest to go for CBR250R which is 30K more than new R15 2.0 version.

Hey guys……R15 is da best….it touches top speed of 151kmph……n goes 0-60 in just 3 sec…….great acceleration………pulsar 220 iz having some type of handling problemss…..

i’ve both the bikes in my home.. i’ve YZF-R15 n my bro has P220.. both r best bikes in india.. both have the same mileage.. in every aspect each has its uniqueness.. all the thing matters is the courage of rider whether it is P220 or YZF-R15.. both has topspeeds of around 150.. since 2008 these bikes r the legends of our roads.. Maintanance of both the bikes r almost same but R15’s maintainance is a bit expensive.. coming to spares P220 spares r cheap n can be maintained by a middle class guy n coming to R15 the spares r too expensive.. R15 iz for looks n P220 for stunts n rough Usage.. anyone who is confused of these bikes can feel free to contact me..

most of the imformation given above is incorrect and pointless ……i rode both of the bikes …… 220 is better when it comes to ride quality …top speed and fuel avrage..it returns me 51 on city and can cover up 60-65 on open highways ….. and my friends r15 delivers 30 35 kmpl only ……
riding constant speed below 60 and judisious use of brakes and cluch improves the avrage of the bike drastically ……
this theory also act on r15 but sadlt its milate can’t reach up to 45 47 ….

ok here’s the deal
let me get this straight
pulsar is not the best in handling
r15 is the best
pulsar 0-60 in 3 secs
r15 takes it in 4.2 seconds
pulsar 0-100 in 6 seconds
r15 takes it in 10.7 seconds
top speed of pulsar is 143 kmph
and goes no farther
lot of vibration and engine gets heated
top speed of r15 is 158 kmph
(beleive me) , no vibration. , no heat
just awesome
r15 handles like a dream
r15 mileage 38 kmpl
pulsar mileage 31 ( trust me 3 of my friends have this bike )
so for the conclusion r15 will take on pulsar in a 1 mile drag
whereas pulsar will take on r15 in a quarter mile drag
r15 will go slow in the beginning but later on it will be the king

Nan makla,no bikes can beat pusal 220,i rided all the bikes including hayaboosa,and i am 2 time champian in the local race,take my suggestion,go for 220,bcos its value for money,if u met accident wth ths bike for spares bajaj is cheaper,and milage is vry gud in 220 comparing to r15. .dnt go for look,look economically,management and comfort,i am proud to be the owner of 220. .r15 .bullshit. .
