Yamaha Fz16 Vs Bajaj Pulsar
The new FZ 16 is precise and faster than its big brother The Fazer. Looks wise its light and performance wise the bike handles perfect. Handling of the FZ16 is not at all difficult. Since it has a rear end tire, a wide one, cutting corners is easy. You can lean properly when it comes to cornering. On straights the bike is pretty fast. In comparison with the Pulsar the FZ16 is much faster and easy to ride.

The design of the bike is light and fast which ensures you have a comfortable ride whenever you hit the road. The Pulsar 150cc is described as one of the mid segment bike. It has good features but it lacks in power and mileage.

Speed, speed and more speed
The FZ16 reaches a top whack of 115kmph with ease. The Pulsar on the other hand has the capacity to reach 110kmph. You really need to change the gear in red line format to reach 110 or 115kmph speeds. The Yamaha partners well in straights or on turns. The Pulsar is bit wobbly when it comes to knee bending turns.

Balancing act
The FZ 16 is comfortable to ride for long distance. The bike is developed with new specifications which ensure no back ache to the rider for long distance traveling. The Pulsar on the other hand is bit uncomfortable when it comes to long rides. It has clip on handle bar which does not provide ultimate support to the back. The FZ 16 is developed with advanced controls and ensures the rider to be comfortable in bumps. The main reason is it’s big under seat mono shock suspension system.

Mileage
The FZ16 delivers an average of 60kmpl if ridden in economy zone. The Pulsar delivers an average of 55kmpl. You might need to run the Pulsar on the dyno machine to extract 60kmpl average. Apart from looking sporty the bike does not have any features. The FZ 16 looks good and handles superb in any terrain.

Time to go to the ATM
In this situation the best option is the Yamaha FZ16. It is bit costly but has features and comfort more than the 150cc pulsar. If there is a race between the FZ and the Pulsar the race would be won by the FZ 16. It has better economy and top

yamaha’s monocross series in lower cc bikes do wonder in streets , unlike other bikes from bajaj , hero honda though they have powerful engine sound it becomes a mere chalengers in terms of flexibility and handling

this is one of the pathetic reviews iv ever read…..fz 16 u..u ride in lower rpm’s or higher rpm’s doesn’t deliver a milege greater than 40 kmpl…and the top end is also a bit questionable… u have to yield it from 7500 rpm which is a bit twitchy..rev hard and harder and fz doesn’t reward u..on the other hand pulsar u can simply rev it hard and harder and achieve a 115 kmph display on the speedo…

but on the whole fz is an age ahead of pulsar in terms of overall package(handling,stability,frame/chassis, suspension, refinment, easy to ride, etc)

    @differentdoctor
The average and reports are authentic…..
It does deliver an average of 55-60kmpl if driven in economy zone.
The comparisons set up here is on actual basis…The Pulsar being a 150cc bike is heavier than the FZ16 by 6kgs and that’s a big difference when you are considering economy and speed.
Well your riding tests must not be on 91octane petrol which is recommended for Yamaha bikes…apart from petrol such riding can be attained on highways…..the bike should not be modified in any possible manner…
The Fz has an engine setup which takes speed in power revs only. If you have the right judgment of changing gears yes it possible to have 115kmph in ease

    @Editor

On the average front ,bought the bike for about 20 days now and im getting the average of about 35kmpl in city even after limiting my rev’s under 4k at max.
May be a couple of services do any good.

    Hi Guys,

I am very confusing between Dazzler or FZ to buy…
I know long term for Honda bikes for engine.. but not sure about yamaha egines….
can you help me for this?

  6. eliksir responded on 29 Nov 2010 at 5:25 am #

    dude, i own an FZ.
mileage of 60kmpl… lol. even if you ride at 4k rpm on 91 octane petrol, its impossible. trust me, i’ve tried.

    @amtya
yamaha and honda are equally good when it comes to quality and reliability.
dazzler and FZ-16 are par on performance
dazzler’s Fuel Efficiency is way higher than that of FZ.
    FZ is easier to ride/handle
looks are subjective, but 9/10 would say FZ looks better :D
    Dazzler has rear disc
Dazzler doesn’t have engine kill switch :P

    Fazer or Fz.. Returning 60…. Lol… ;-)

Evry1 Has reported btw 35-40 in all riding conditions…
highway.. city.. rough.. smooth… in all conditions…

    Cornering and stability is nice…

Racing with a Pulsar..?? Both will be equal.. i had did it with many…

To say frankly Pulsar jumps very fast than an FZ…

Hav a race to know it… if u hav the ability and the guts… to handle the full performance of a Pulsar 150…

but FZ is also a Gud one truly and had an awesome power and stability…

    Topspeed 110 for a Pulsar 150…??

Ill show 123 on speedo…. (If rev properly…)

Mileage factor… Pulsar delivers morethan 55 if driven properly…

Never delivers below 45 or (40) in all driven conditions…

Ride for 4 to 5 hrs in a city both the bikes.. you will come to know which one is best for your body…

FZ is sporty… i agree… But its stiffer handling position makes u feel uncomfortable and ull hav cramps in ur hands after sumtime…
    the same wid Apache… ;-(

    Hey Riders,
    Don’t Care What Anyone Says… Coz…
I Own My Fz 16 From 2009 Till Date… After Running 45000+ I Don’t Feel An Inch Of A Difference In The Riding. It Still Shines As Good As New, Its Engine Is As Smooth As New, Gives Me An Average Of 50Kmpl…
Have Rode it Almost Everywhere… Had Taken It From Mumbai To Goa Its A 530 Km Ride, Completed It In 10 Hrs Comfortably And Didn’t Get Back Ache Or Cramps As Someone Has said… Perhaps People Saying This Need A Orthopedist To Check For The Cramps…
Its Not That I Haven’t Rode A PULSAR…. But Its No That Comfortable For Long Rides… Try It Out Yourself… Ride On A PULSAR For 500Kms And An FZ For 500Kms… Your Back Will Give You The Answer… :)
    And Its The Truth
    FZ IS
THE LORD OF THE STREETS… YES YAMAHA…
