VW Rolls Out Its First Made-in-India car Polo!

The German Car Maker, Volkswagen has rolled out its very first made-in-India car model - Polo from its Chakan plant near Pune, Maharashtra in the presence of Mr. Ashok Chavan (Chief Minister of Maharashtra). The company said it intended to capture up to 10% auto-market.

VW have entered in Indian market in 2001 and now it captured 1.5% of Indian auto market, Mr. Kurt Rippholz (Head of Communication, VW India) said.VW has done investment of around INR 3800 cr in its Chakan plant, which is the biggest investment in India till date by the German company. Chakan plant has 110,000 units capacity per year, it will manufacture Skoda Fabia, Polo, and sedan (will be come in third quarter of 2010).

With VW Polo launch, the company is planning to tap the small car segment in domestic market.

We aim to achieve a market share of 8 to 10% in the next four to six years with the three Volkswagen Group brands, Audi, Skoda, and Volkswagen.
