Volvo Plans to Collaborate with Ford Motor in 2009

Volvo, Swedish carmaker said it will start assembly operations in the country soon. They are looking for collaboration with Ford motors for starting it. Because currently, in Chennai, Ford’s manufacturing unit did not provide any assembly productions.
Volvo already started assembly operations in China where they working in sharing with Ford and Mazda.
The company wants more experience and stabilization in their sales in the current fleet of the cars in the India. According to Mr Voijs, the company will bring the crossover XC70 and XC60 into country.
MD Paul de Voijs indicated the possibility of getting the compact car model XC30 into the India.
Trends change and if the demand for a three door car develops, we will look to get the car into the country along with our estates.
- Mr Voijs said.
Volvo has obtained 100 cars orders for India.
Mr. Voijs further added,
A hybrid car is expensive and at the same time we need different stakeholders to come together to operate such cars.
