The Car

The European automaker Volkswagen launched Vento in July 2010 in India. If we see the prevalent trend in the Indian car market, the car manufacturers are now interested in making cars that would suit the Indian conditions. Vento models are rolled out from the Volkswagen plant in Chakan in the Pune district of Maharshtra. This being an entirely Indian make, the company has succeeded in keeping the prices of the variants under control and exceptionally competitive prices make Vento sell like hot cakes. Even at competitive rates the engineers have crafted out the ‘Vento’ an irresistible temptation.

Volkswagen has made Vento with an aim to lock horns with the market leader Honda City. As far as the Indian mid size premium sedan segment market is concerned, Honda has made pots of money for a long time; but Volkswagen Vento has certainly changed the stats. Volkswagen enjoys the number one position in the global auto market. Now the company tries to snatch the position that Honda secures in the mid size premium sedan segment.

If we compare the all new Volkswagen Vento with Honda City, the main striking difference is that the former comes in both petrol and diesel versions unlike Honda City which is available only in petrol version. The engine used in Vento (1.6 L petrol and diesel engines) is the same which powers Volkswagen Polo.

Volkswagen Vento Petrol Highline AT is packed with all the standard features of the base variant. Well, there is no difference between Vento Petrol Highline and Vento Petrol Highline AT except, as the name suggests, the latter comes with a six speed automatic transmission gearbox while the former has the manual one. You will get a good value for your money when you see the features like ABS, Climatronic automatic air conditioning, Front Airbags for driver and co-driver, Radio with CD player MP3 and four speaker including roof Antenna, It is powered by the 1.6L petrol engine. When I saw this variant for the first time, what struck at the outset were the exceptionally dynamic aerodynamically designed exteriors. I was just bowled over! It was later when I saw the immensely impressive interiors, Veto became an irresistible beauty for me. This is the car that meets all the basic expectations of a customer.
Let’s have a quick look at some of the prominent features of Volkswagen Vento Petrol Highline AT

Exteriors

Aggressive exteriors of the all new Volkswagen Vento Petrol Highline AT are the main attraction for the potential car buyer. When I saw the chrome finished grille with the centrally positioned Volkswagen logo and chrome horizontal thunder flash headlights I was impressed. The front air intake has been made here in chrome and fitted in well-designed cluster. Vento comes with green tinted heat absorbing glass to control the temperature inside. The body colored bumpers, body colored rear view mirrors and door handles make the vehicle look trendy, sporty and muscular. I was equally impressed with the rear part of the car which is so much compact and has been molded in a simple and sober designing job. Here listed are some of the important exterior features of the Volkswagen Vento Petrol Highline AT.

Performance

Volkswagen Vento Petrol Highline AT comes with an in line 1.6L, 105PS Petrol Engine. This is the same engine introduced in Volkswagen Polo. It can churn out the maximum power of 105PS @ 5250rpm and 153Nm of maximum torque at 3800rpm. The engine comes with the six speed automatic transmission gearbox with triptronic which gives a brisk acceleration. This engine helps the idling speed to be lowered without making any compromise with the high-speed performance. As regards the fuel economy of the car, the company officials are pretty confident about great results. Volkswagen Vento Petrol Highline AT gives a decent average of 11 kmpl on the urban roads whereas it offers an average of around 15 kmpl on the highways.

All in all, Volkswagen Vento Petrol Highline AT is a good choice for an everyday drive. The awesome interiors, killing exteriors, good engine performance and special safety and luxury features make the Vento Petrol Highline AT spacious, trendy and stylish.

Some more attractions could have been easily incorporated in the car to make it class apart from all the others in the race. Just to count a few, CD changer and DVD player could have easily been there. Otherwise you get almost everything you would expect from a decent car. The Ex showroom New Delhi price of the car is Rs.9,26,619/-.
