Volkswagen Launches New Chakan Plant

Volkswagen India unveiled its new high-tech plant at Chakan. The plant is spread over 575 acre area, with the production capacity of 1,10,000 units per year. Chakan plant of VW is one of the biggest in the country and will provide work for 2500 capable workers. The company will be considering Rs. 3800 cr investment in this plant.
The new facility will begin making in May’09 with Skoda Fabia -the first one off the production line. The manufacture of Skoda Fabia will be moved from Aurangabaad to Chakan facility. VW’s Polo will be manufactured in Chakan plant from 2010 while Audi India may also utilize this facility for its upcoming assembly.
The state of the art facility features few high tech making technologies similar to diode laser brazing. The new VW Polo will make use of technology for its structure of body.

The main aim of the Project is used to Switch ON and Switch OFF the Engine and also it is used for security purpose. It totally contains a GSM MODEM which is going to be placed in vehicle which consists of a Owner SIM Card, when Owner sends SMS to that Card then the engine is going to operate, if some another person sends a SMS the number is going to be displayed in the Owners device. Then the owner can easily come to know the thief.
