Volkswagen Launched ‘Jetta’ sedan

VW, Europe’s biggest car manufacturer, will bring the compact car based on Polo platform in Indian market in 2010. They launched their ‘Jetta’ sedan on Wednesday and now planning the slew of niche and mass market initiates in India.

We are following the top-down strategy and plan to straddle every segment of the Indian car market.

The compact car will be rolled out of their future Chakan plant which will be started in 2009. This plant will have the capacity of 1.1 lakh units.
Volkswagen also plans to roll out Phaeton sedan, the coupe variant of the Passat and the Tiguan SUV, and is also planning to launch their commercial vehicle (CV) range in the India.
A team from Volkswagen is expected next week to study the possibility of launching CVs.

According to him, the India-particular mini car would be in a premium segment and wouldn’t take on Tata Motor’s Nano. The car would be unlike from the Polo and its component will be outsourced from the Indian providers. In country, VW expects to sell 20K Skoda, VW and Audi cars in 2008.
VW is planning to set up 15-dealerships in the country this year and 100-dealership by the end-2011. The industry, which already assembles Passat sedan at their Aurangabad plant, will begin the making of Skoda Fabia at their Chakan plant in a 2009. The Jetta sedan will sell at Rs 12.97 lakh at ex-showroom in Delhi for petrol version and Rs 14.22 lakh for diesel version.
