Toyota’s Prius Coming Soon…

Toyota has at last decided to bring its ‘Prius‘ model in Indian market. They were studying the feasibility for their model in country. The company has set their plans to introduce their mass marketed hybrid car early 2009 in Indian market. They already launched their model at the International Engineering Trade Fair in New Delhi earlier 2008.

Initially the car is expected to be imported as CBUs (Completely Built Unit) as the Indian arm for the Toyota lacks required infrastructure to create it locally.The car is expected to reduce in the cost band of Rs 18 lakhs to 22 lakhs. The hybrid cars are very fuel efficient as well as eco-friendly. They utilize both electric motor and petrol to provide the most economic run on the regular roads.

The company is also planning to introduce its ‘Lexus’ the SUV brand and Corolla in the Indian market.The Indian market doesn’t have any hybrid car as of now even if they have been around for 2+ decades in Europe and United States.

The hybrid cars use less fuel and have lower emission level. Even with all these advantages, they haven’t been so popular because their excessive costs. But now the hybrids have become very hot favorites with the problem of energy consumption and global warming.

Toyota has finally decided to roll out its model Prius in India. It has been studying the feasibility for the model in the country. The Japanese auto major has set its plans to launch its mass marketed hybrid car early next year in India. It had already showcased its model at the International Engineering Trade Fair in New Delhi earlier this year.

    It is nice to know that Prius will hitting the Indian roads but I also read that the hybrid version of Prius will be coming to India. so is both the news on same models or are they talking about two different models?
