Toyota to Launch the Land Cruiser and Fortuner in India
Posted on February 3rd 2009Welcome back!
The Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota Motor Co., is set to launch new and more powerful models in its portfolio in Indian market. The company is planning to launch its sport utility vehicle the ‘Land Cruiser‘ in the country very soon.

Land Cruiser is one of the best known models from Toyota which will be imported as a CBU in the country. So the Indians have to pay a hefty cost for this model. The Land Cruiser may price up to Rs. 40 lacs considering the CBU import duties in India. Toyota will introduce a diesel model and is analyzing new changes related to import rules & regulations.
The Land Cruiser is under study and the recent changes to the regulations governing the import of vehicles give us an opportunity to bring the model to India.
- Mr. Sandeep Singh (Deputy MD (marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motors, India) said.
Toyota has already marked its presence in the Indian SUV market in SUV segment with their Prado model from Land Cruiser category which is a petrol version.

I spoke with my local Toyota dealer in Chandigarh and they advised that Fortuner will be launched in late July - early August with a price tag of around Rs. 17 lacs.
