The Car

Toyota Prius is an elegant luxury car with a sporty and aggressive stance. The car is powered by a petrol engine as well as an electric motor. Toyota has brought two interior trim options to the Indian car market: Toyota Prius Z3 and Toyota Prius Z4. You can see beautiful fabric seat material in the Toyota Prius Z3; but no seat heater which is available in the Toyota Prius Z4

Toyota Prius is loaded with 1.8 liter 1798 cc 2ZR-FXE 4 cylinder in line petrol engine. The 1.8L engine is highly powerful to churn out 73 kw of peak power at 5,200 rpm and the maximum torque of 142 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

In addition to the strong powertrain, Toyota Prius carries a permanent magnet type 650 V electric motor. The electric motor can generate the maximum power of 60 kw and the peak torque of 207 Nm. There is also the battery type which is Sealed Ni-MH (Nickel-Metal hydride) with the capacity of Ah 6.5 (2h). The combined maximum figure for the power output is 100 kw. The company has introduced the much popular Hybrid Synergy Drive technology with the intention of ensuring the optimum use of gasoline engine and the electric motor. The combination of this technology makes driver choose from the three driving modes. The technology is an assurance of excellent fuel economy, the lowest amount of exhaust emissions, smooth engine performance and amazing acceleration.

Exterior Features

Toyota engineers have out in relentless efforts in making Prius a sporty and aggressive stance. The third generation design has undergone a number of changes. The front end of the car catches the eyes of the speed lovers with sleek upper grille and snub-nose. The prestigious Toyota emblem has been embossed on the upper grille at the top of the point. Toyota Prius is slightly larger in size but as regards the weight of the make it has been reduced to get better fuel economy. Smartly designed front headlight cluster in a diamond-cut shape houses projector beam halogen headlamps with special auto-off feature.

You can see the lower grille in black with the rectangular slot. The fog light slot also comes with the turn indicator which is separated from the lower grille and thus looks distinct. Front side skirt adds to the sporty and trendy look of the car. The rear view mirrors are electronically powered and are in body color with turn indicator lamps. You can also see the body colored front and rear bumper as well as door handles. The side skirts in semi-chrome finish look beautiful.

The rear side of the car is as beautiful as is the front. The vertical LED tail light cluster comprises brake light, reverse light and turn indicator. The wide and impressive rear hatch is a nice piece of work. Aerodynamic rear deck spoiler is an addition to the top of the hatch. The company logo is right at the middle of the hatch. The sleek roof comes with mounted antenna at the rear side. The car also has Washer-linked variable intermittent wipers in the front and an intermittent rear window wiper. The 15 inch five spoke alloy wheels enhance the beauty of the vehicle.

Interior Features

Interiors of the car are equally appealing. The car is all equipped with CFC-free climate control which consists of an electric compressor, dust and pollen filtration mode, humidity sensor and air filter. Among the other prominent interior features that I find worth mentioning here are the AM/FM/MP3 CD player with eight speakers, the auxiliary audio jack, the voice activated touch screen DVD navigation system, power automatic door locks with anti lockout feature, front passenger seatback pocket, 2stage unlocking and push button start, remote keyless entry system and the panic function, dynamic radar cruise control and touch tracer display.

Safety Features

Prius has paid equal attention to the safety features. To mention a few prominent ones of them we have Star Safety System which consists of enhanced vehicle stability control, anti lock braking system, brake assist, driver and front passenger advanced airbag system, driver’s knee airbag, driver and front passenger active headrests, side impact door beams, 3point seat belts in all seating positions etc. the features make the car all more special.

Performance

Toyota Prius Z3 comes with a 1.8 liter 1798 cc 2ZR-FXE 4 cylinder in line petrol engine with manual transmission gear type. The 1.8L engine is highly powerful to generate 73 kw of peak power at 5,200 rpm and the maximum torque of 142 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The combined power output of both the petrol engine and the electric motor is 100 kw. The car offers excellent mileage and fuel economy. Prius Z3 gives excellent average of 10 kmpl in the cities and 12 kmpl on highways. The turning radius of the car is 5.2 meters.

Overview

All in all Toyota Prius is a good choice for Indian roads. The car has done exceedingly well globally. This is a car with elegant exterior features, royal interior features, loads of safety and entertainment features and most importantly excellent performance features. The car is known to give nice average and excellent fuel economy.
The visibility through the rear window of the car is not good as the back seat headrest and the rear spoiler come in way. The high cost of the car may be taken as a con here. The New Delhi Ex Show Room price of the car is Rs 26,76,800 ; but if we look at the loads of features of the car, I think you would agree when I say that you don’t get quality at cheap rates.

A further issue is that video games are normally serious as the name indicated with the primary focus on mastering rather than amusement. Although, we have an entertainment facet to keep the kids engaged, each game is generally designed to work with a specific experience or programs, such as mathematics or science.
