With the Logan fiasco behind them, the French auto giant Renault has brought to its Indian customers, one of its excellent C Segment offering, which looks good enough to deliver a sucker-punch to all its existing competitors in the Indian market. Engineered to outclass and designed to trigger envy, the Renault Fluence is poised to set the Indian automobile scene on fire.
Renault Fluence is available in two engine variants, a 1.5L Diesel version capable of producing 240 Nm torque @ 2000 rpm with 106 PS @ 4000 rpm and the more furious 2.0L MPFI (Multi-Point Petrol Injection) version 190 Nm of torque @ 3700 rpm with 137 PS @ 6000 rpm. The diesel version has a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed CVT transmission is provided in the Petrol version.
An ecstatic Sudhir Rao, Deputy Managing Director of Renault India told reporters “Today, we have reached the first big milestone in our India story. It was a promise we made a year ago, not only to the Indian customer, but to ourselves, that we would work hard to ensure we meet the seemingly difficult timelines we had set for our independent entry into the Indian market.” He also vowed commitment for delivering quality to Indian customers, “We understand that the Indian customer is extremely value conscious, hence not only will our products be in tune with customer expectations, but our commitment will be visible through every aspect of a customer’s interface with us … globally benchmarked Product Quality, Service quality, Network quality and our After Sales Service commitment,” he added.
Renault has armed its re-launch “Knight” with some of the premium driving-friendly focused technologies, some of which are only expected in the premium Sedan. Engine Start/Stop, Cruise Control, Tilt + Telescopic Steering, ABS with EBD, Smart Access, and Bluetooth connectivity the car has all the latest features. What do i have to say about the New Renault Fluence , a very good looking car a Fantastic Back seat and very comfortable ! Its a bit under powered id say but its fairly ok . But I’ve got a very serious problem id like to bring forward . I live in Kerela, and we have our share of bad roads , The Tires the worst . I’ve been driving for the past 32 years and the tires on the Fluence are the first i have POPPED ! Not once but twice . I was driving properly id say , 2 of the tires’ have torn their side walls the first time in 32 years .I haven’t heard this happen to anyone other then they’ve gone Off-Roading .They are Continental tire’s and they are Horrible for our Indian roads . If it happens once i can understand but not twice . Side walls don’t tear that often . And when I contacted them their reaction was ” Its Nothing Unusual”, and refuse to replace the tires. What worries me is the possibility of me hitting a pothole at high speed ( which can not be ruled out on our Indian roads) and a similar tire burst and endanger me and others in the car . It would be interesting to know if anyone else has had a similar experience .Renault should seriously think if Continental is the right tire choice for their cars .and Continental should be concerned about the fitness of these tyres on Indian Roads. These tires’ aren’t cheap either .They’re 10 grand for one ! I’m not happy shelling out 20 grand for a thing i didn’t do . Maybe this tire works well in Different countries ,but Not INDIA !
