Toyota Etios Review

Welcome back!

Toyota Etios Review

Another hatch back in the list is the Toyota Etios. Well information is not available in abundance since there is a lag of data. This is what the Japanese had to say at the launch of Etios. This is not the scenario at the moment. We can see flooding of hatch back cars in Indian market. This has happened because all the auto manufactures are developing cheap car which can be efficiently used. Toyota is one of the prime manufacturers of automobiles in India. This will be its first hatchback car which is exclusively made for the Indian segment. Unlike other cars the design and make are truly world class.

The Car
Well the Etios is quite composed on the block where two different needs are required. One is speed and the other is comfort. The design of the Etios is simple. It’s a hatchback car which has various features. You can have a good time driving the Etios in the city. A replica of the Etios can be the Hyundai i20. The Etios is much more spacious than the i20. The design and shape is like the i20. Different features are available in the Etios which make it a complete car. You can use it for traveling to long and windy destinations. Handling and interiors are mind blowing.

Interiors and looks
The car looks subtle from outside. You might never think this can be spacious from inside. The reason being it looks shabby and crumpled up from the exteriors. The cabin is spacious and has the capacity to accommodate 5 adults with ease. This is one of the plus points of the Etios. It has a powerful engine which delivers an average fuel economy.

Handling the Etios
Judging over the interiors is a bad option. The car has a top end engine but it lacks in handling. As always Toyota have messed up again in creating a wonder car. Handling of the Etios is not that great. Maneuvering the car at high speeds is not difficult. Cutting corners can be difficult and you might want to think again before shedding a corner. You need to have extreme control over the vehicle if you want it to dance to your tunes.

Engine and feel of the Etios
Bit underpowered at times, yes this is what is being delivered. Well if you look closely the Etios is only created for economy. If you want a hatchback which can be used for economy purposes then you are on the right track. The Etios delivers high output since it has low powered engine. Driving the Etios at high speeds cannot be that great since the engine won’t hold such high speed. It can suddenly drop the economy too. Maintenance wise you might want to think again.

Where it should belong your garage or the showroom?
Looking at the results its better if the Etios is in the showroom. It’s not a bad car either but it has lots of maintenance and handling issues. The car is very spacious but when it comes to performance it lags behind its rivals. Apart from speed the car does have speed errors too. Speed errors are nothing but achieving the right speed according to its engine power. You can expect an f1 car to be driven at max 100kmph speed. This is what speed errors mean exactly. The Etios is still under modification period. Hope Toyota will do something about the underpowered engine. Apart from rest the Etios looks good and has space for all.

Toyota till now had been a niche player in India with its all its passenger cars catering to the higher class of the society. That had been their strategy in India and every other country they were present till date. But they soon realized that in India, the fastest growing passenger car market, it was just not enough to have models catering to the elite, as every other car sold is either a hatch or an entry level sedan. To make their presence felt in India, they had to come down to the mass market, making cars for the common man in India. It was something they had never done before, not only in India, but anywhere else.
