Toyota Motors riding the wave of popularity with the recent launch of all new Toyota Etios Sedan and Toyota Etios Liva (displayed during the launch) is now planning to have a grand launch of the Diesel version of Toyota Etios. When we contacted, one of the company officials revealed that the Toyota Etios Diesel is likely to be launched sometime in December 2011.

Koji Nagata, Director, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar, told that the company is thinking about the launch of the Toyota Etios Diesel and they expect that they could get the things done by December, next year. The upcoming threat Nissan Micra Diesel may give a tough competition to the Toyota Etios Diesel. Nissan Micra will hit the Indian market on 10th December this year.

Toyota Motors has a tie up with Kirloskar Motors in India. Toyota plans to increase the localization of components in Toyota Etios by 90 per cent. Currently this localization stands at 70 per cent.

The all new model of Toyota Etios was launched in Bangalore on 1st December. The sedan is equipped with a 1.5 L DOHC engine that churns out a power of 90 Bhp and a torque of 132 Nm. Toyota Etios offers an impressive mileage of 17. 6 kmpl and costs Rs 4.96 lakh. Etios is all set to lock horns with rivals like Hyundai Accent, Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Manza and Ford Ikon in the Indian auto market. Toyota Etios Liva which will run on the Indian roads next year in April will have a 1.2 L engine offering 80 Bhp. The car will be having a price tag of Rs. 4.2 lakh estimated as of now.

It seems like Toyota is too eager to lunge into the over crowed but blooming Indian automobile market with its new models. Giving Toyota an amazing start, Toyota Etios managed to bag a woofing number of bookings of 3077 units in just a couple of days after its launch. Only time will tell how far the Japanese car pioneer manages to keep up with its brand name in this competitive market.
