Toyota Cuts Production by 30% in India

toyota cuts production by 30%Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Monday said that it will cut production by 30% in December as there has been a fall in sales of passenger car.
The company has a capacity to manufacture more than 5K units per month at its factory near Bangalore.

Also, Toyota said that it is planning to invest in India around Rs 3200 crore although it has decided to cut down production by 30%.In November’08, Toyota has made 2886 units but due to slowdown in auto market, it has cuts the production in December’08.

We will be producing 30 per cent less in December due to falling sales. We will decide about the future productions for January and February depending on the market condition for this month.

- Mr. Nakagawa (TKM managing director) added.

The company previously declared its sales objective of 60K units for 2008. In 2007, it’s sales stopped at 54,181 units in Indian market.

    thats is sad! already they are going to have a tough time when mahindra xylo launches. hope they are able to sustain. For those who dont know what Xylo is..search google!

    You are mistaken.The content talks about the Toyota cutting down its production. But you comment says about M&M Xylo.

    Cut the production rate of toyota in this enconomic down turn is bad sign for automobile industry.But one question hunt in my mind that, Why car market is incresing that day? according to economics times.
