Outline:

Toyota is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world by the sales. Toyota mainly provides 2 models globally under a Corolla brand title - one is a sedan and another is the hatchback.

So far the company hasn’t able to create a mark in the country with the sedans due to existence of Honda’s City and Civic. Toyota has sold on 40K cars of Corolla in 5 years but now they are planning to sell 20K cars of Corolla Altis / year.

Interiors/Exteriors & Comforts:

The interiors of the Altis are mainly inspired by their more costly sibling, the Toyota Camry. You are welcomed by a neat, organized dash together with the beige color - painless on eyes with the feeling of coolness. The central console’s different buttons are spread well, and all are within the access of driver.

The upgraded quality level of fabric offers speak of the quality equal to Civic or Jetta. The car’s interiors are offered with the proper ergonomics with eight way power driver seat that offers a driver max comfort for driving.

The new Toyota Corolla displays a mush sportier and younger look. The smooth and distinct lines slice and define their way from front side to rear side.

The rear part particularly has been displeasure as you can’t tell if a new Altis is in fact distinct from old one, however, utilization of LEDs in a tail lamp cluster can definitely please you. Few clear modifications are in dimensions which are 60 mm wide, 10 mm long and 20 mm lesser. New Altis also provides improved aerodynamics with a grille, fog lamps and head lamps inserted in bumper.

Engine:

The Altis comes with 1.8-liter WT engine which is quite analogous to current model from the Corolla in India. Its engine provides 140 bhp power and has a ECU and FI system to give better performance. Altis also has enhanced emission consistency and improved fuel competence.

It provides five speed manual transmission and four speed automatic transmissions for the high end variants. In general, the new edition is able to deliver mileage of 11 km/l. McPherson strut suspensions absorbs all shocks and the potholes of the Indian road situations and provide effortless riding experience.

Safety Features:

Toyota has awaked the anti against a competition and for a very first time, Toyota Altis features ABS anti-skid brakes with the Brake Assist & e-Brakeforce Distribution for best stopping power in emergency.

This is the feature that should be the standard option on all new vehicles, beside Electronic Stability Controls. The Altis has 5 star Euro NCAP ratings and will come with safety features like ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Traction Control and many airbags.

Now let’s discuss some negative and positive points:

Negatives:

  • The entire design doesn’t look to be strange. Toyota struggled a safer approach and cheated with an exterior by copying its superior sibling. They haven’t really built much exciting.

  • Length per wheel base kept on unchanged and so offered Toyota to reuse full chassis with a bit of readjustments.
  • Except front-dash, the trims and the space remain same.
  • Rear side isn’t that awe inspiring.

Positives:

  • Top 2-variants 1.8 GV and 1.8 GL offered with Hid auto flexible lamps for brighter night lighting and power washers.

  • Power driven adjustable driver seat for two variants.
  • Flat and Smooth rear floor (same like civic).
  • Sequential shift AT in 1.8V
  • Superior paint finish and appears more reliable than the previous one.

Toyota Corolla Altis available in 5 colors - Light Blue Metallic, Silver Mica Metallic, Dark Red Mica, White Pearl Mica and Champagne Mica Metallic. The 3 variants of Corolla Altis priced between Rs 10.83 lakh & Rs 12.86 lakh at ex-showroom, Delhi.

The main strength is the unbitten reliability and ease of maintenance hence the cost of ownership is very reasonable with a good comfort.
This model is the most popular car in the world over the decades thus it has proved its reliability and user friendliness with the owner.
