Tata to Launch Electric Ace in US

Tata Motors is planning to launch the electric version of its “Ace” mini-truck in US in collaboration with GEM (Global Electric Motorcars) which is electric vehicles unit of Chrysler. Hindu Businessline reported that the contract for the same is already signed up.

Tata will export the completely built Ace into US but without the motor or engine. Chrysler will fit the motor into it. It is still not decided how the branding will work and with what name it will be called.

Tata Ace was launched in India in 2006 and was a great hit. Before this, there were only 3 wheelers mini-trucks in this price range and load capacity. Tata Ace because the favorite of many small businesses. Now Tata is going to US with the electric version of it.

Tata plans to export around 10,000 units to start with from end of year 2008, but will increase its capacity to 50,000 later on. Tata is also planning to launch the same electric Ace in India too after it is launched in USA.
Lets see when India see first “Electric Mini Truck” on its roads.
