Mr. Ratan also added that 2009 year will be difficult but not so bad year for industry which has just finished an acquisition of 2-iconic British brands – Jaguar & Land Rover.
We are looking at the creation of an electric car. This financial year we are doing it for Norway. And we hope to launch it in other markets in the next financial year.
- Mr. Ratan said.
The industry is also functioning on the compressed-air car projects.
We have been working with a company in France. It will be completely free of pollution. It is a technology which could have some promise. It may happen. It may not happen. We will be looking at hybrid vehicles. We are looking at how we can enter in the area of bio fuel. We have launched a project in that area.
- He added.
We have acquired a very interesting and capable company which operates in 120 countries. We are now among 17 largest auto companies in the world having two global brands. Today, we have had an opportunity to acquire a major international company. It has been a gutsy decision…I hope that we can over time, say that there was an opportunity to get an independent car company and make the acquisition and bring it into our fold. We took that opportunity and I hope that we can prove in the future that it was a justifiable decision.
