Tata Sumo Gold Launched

Auto giant Tata Motors launched the latest version of its multi-utility vehicle, Tata Sumo Gold in Pune, on Thursday. This all new Tata Sumo Gold is priced at Rs 5.23 lakh (ex-showroom price at Pune) and is available in four variants i.e. GX, EX, LX and CX. The MUV delivers 85 PS power with BS III and BS IV 3 liter diesel CR4 engine and it is also available in turbo engine. Its revamping is being done at the Bhosari plant in Pune.

Mileage of Tata Sumo Gold is claimed to be 14.07 kilometers per liter. At the launch of the revamped version of Tata Gold Sumo, R. Ramakrishnan ,VP, commercial, passenger car business unit, Tata Motors said “With 14.7 kmpl mileage, the Tata Sumo Gold is conceived and designed for the young customer looking for a stylish, new-age vehicle that is powerful and can take on any terrain with ease. It will change the face of entry level SUVs in India.”
Speaking about the engine performance and the work that went into it, he said “We have improved the engine performance of the vehicle. It is a result of extensive consumer studies and field tests. The product has been designed to fulfill various requirements, long-awaited by the new generation customer. It has a growling engine that thumps out vicious power. It goes a step ahead in putting the reins of power in the customer’s hands, by letting him choose from two powerhouses, that suits his driving experience, delivering the best-in-class acceleration, power and an excellent torque aided pick-up and pull power.”
Sumo holds a 15% market share in the MUV segment and Sumo Gold is designed to compete with Mahindra Bolero and the new Chevrolet Tavera BS IV which is yet to hit the market. The passenger and utility vehicles of Tata Motors has done relatively well in the last month unlike others in the industry who struggled to sustain the growth due to the recent fuel price and interest rate hike.

Its good to hear that evergreen sumo is back, sumo has been a classic for nearly 2 decades. This is the best multi utility vehicle in India.

I have been using Tata Sumo Ex for the past eight years and there was no trouble with the engine. I have been looking for a good replacement and I feel the newly launched Tata sumo Gold will meet my expectations. I would love to go in for it
