Welcome back!

Tata Motors, the third largest car manufactures in the world, has a cheapest deal in their kitty: the Tata Nano. Tata Nano is one of the least expensive cars in the world, and also the most long awaited car.  23rd March, 2009 was the day that witnessed the launch of Tata Nano, which proved to be a landmark in the progress of Indian auto market.

The blasting launch of Tata Nano lured the attention of the world to the automobile industry of India. Thus Tata’s dream of engineering a car for an average Indian buyer came true. Tata Nano is the smallest car ever launched in India, and it has hit the market with its five classy variants.

The base model of Tata Nano was Tata Nano Std BSII which acts in accordance with all the BSII emission norms and standards. Tata Nano Std BSII is designed with a thought in mind that the interior, or the compartments should be roomy enough to offer a comfortable head space and also enough leg space to the user. Tata Nano Std BSII is thus an ideal car with respect to comfort and convenience. Tata Nano Std BSII sports a very efficient engine that is engineered with a multi-fuel injection petrol type, that makes it stand apart from the contemporaries. For the first time, Tata has introduced a two-cylinder gasoline engine, accompanied with a balance shaft in this model. Tata engineers have taken care of maintaining the weight of the car, and have designed the model in such a way that it optimizes the car’s performance with respect to both, high fuel efficiency and energy consumption.

With all the features, and an out of the box design, Nano is steadily making strides in the market, and it is anticipated that by the end of this year, the micro-hybrid version of this small family car will hit the markets, and will be showcased in the Tata Motors showrooms all over the country. In regards to the upcoming launch, a Tata Motors spokesperson said, “The Company does not comment on the company’s product plans”.  But it’s quite predictable that with the launch of Nano micro hybrid, Tata Motors will soon add a new product to its cart, portraying its capabilities in greener technologies. Taking a step further, Tata Motors is planning to launch an electric version of its best selling model, Indica Vista, in Europe this year.

Last year, during the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, Tata Motors had showcased an electric Ace, and experimented with hybrid buses by running a few of them. We have come to know that the micro-hybrid technology might be provided by a German tier I supplier.

Presently, Bosch, the German component manufacturer, and Continental provide some prominent components to the Tata Nano. The Nano reached its highest monthly sales figures above 10,000 units last month. Cumulatively, Tata motors sold approximately 80,000 units of the Nano since it was first rolled out from their Sanand plant in Gujrat, in June last year.

Tata is concentrating on Nano more these days. They really have got potential to come up with other good cars in SUV and MUV category. I think they should concentrate on other cars as well.

I think Tata is correct because of increasing fuel price and traffic.
