Tata Motors Launches A Bullet Proof Version of Safari

At a time when the reports of billions and billions of money being stashed in Swiss bank accounts made headlines all over, here is an unusual business opportunity seen and implemented by the auto biggie, Tata Motors.
Tata Motors thought that a group of gangsters might abduct or open fire on politicians to ask for some amount so why not make a bulleted variant of their Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), The Safari. As a result, even common mass could have their hands on a vehicle that could protect their lives.
Though it’s tagged at a hefty price of 60 lakhs, Tata Safari is still considered the most secured yet affordable SUV to have been launched in India ever by any auto company.
Speaking Safety-wise, security from a bullet shot enough to blow your head is imperative than the money spent on it. Tata vehicles are capable of providing a shield from bullets as nasty as those fired from an AK 47 rifle. Apart from this, the newest version of Tata Safari can also sustain a hand grenade explosion beneath its running board without affecting the fuel tank and thus saving the passengers.
In technical terms, this reinforced Safari has got NIJ Level III/B6 rating of security. It can run on flat tyres for 50km at a speed ranging from 50-60km/h. The glass area is capable of resisting an attack from assault rifles such as the AK47. The suspension of the car has been specially upgraded to take the added load of heavy armor. The armored Safari can do a top speed of 150km/h. There won’t be any visual differences in the bullet proof version from the standard version.
An official from Tata Motors was quoted as saying on the condition of anonymity.
This is the first time that Tata Motors is coming up with an area of specialty vehicle for the common mass. The interesting part is that the vehicle could be ordered directly from the manufacturer.
Previously too, Tata Motors has been making vehicles exclusively for Indian forces. Now that the auto major has brought a similar vehicle for general public, it would be really interesting to see if any more companies are coming up to launch a similar vehicle and trigger off a competition in this segment as well!
