Tata Motors launches India’s first CNG-Electric Hybrid Low-Floor Star buses in Delhi. This is the first time that hybrid buses will be utilized for public transportation on Indian roads.
This bus is specifically meant for fast and comfortable passenger movement intra city. These buses are powered by the parallel hybrid engine comprising an internal combustion CNG engine and an electric motor using regenerative energy storage system. These buses will be introduced in the bus fleet of Delhi Transport Corporation.
The parallel technology utilized in this bus is the simultaneous usage of the both the electric motor and CNG engine to drive the vehicle. The peculiar characteristics of this system are that it reutilizes the energy lost in braking to recharge the battery.
These buses are more fuel-efficient and environment friendly than the conventional buses. These buses have a combination of conventional internal combustion engine propulsion system with an electric propulsion system.
These buses have lower emission rates and hence are contributing to the cause of cleaner air and greener environment. These buses are environment friendly passenger transportation application.
These low-floor hybrid electric buses are air-conditioned. The floor height of this bus is 400 mm. These buses could accommodate thirty-two passengers and have special provision for wheel chairs as well. For reducing the halt, exit time and trip lengths, these buses have a pneumatically operated in-swing and out-swing flat doors and knelling facility.
They are well equipped with facilities such as the full air suspension, excellent ride quality, energy efficient heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. It has a top speed of 72 kmph.
These buses are specially introduced with the view to reduce pollution in the Delhi city. These buses will be utilized during the commonwealth games. They would be exclusively utilized for the athletes and delegates.
The company will do the maintenance of these buses running in the country. These buses are a comfortable solution to intra city passenger problems in the city because of its features such as high starting acceleration and maximum speed of 70 kmph.
