We had also stated that Tata is also planning to add production wing to its winning model, Nano.
This is to inform you that the auto major has decided to triple the production of its Nano. Tata’s this bid is set to take them a step closer to get the very well out of Maruti, the present top Indian car maker.
Tata Motors is all geared up to increase the production of its Nano at the Sanand, Gujarat plant by triple folds by March, 2011.The Sanand plant is believed to have a production capacity of 2, 50,000 units per year, which is being believed to achieve slowly.
As of now, the said unit is producing 10,000 units and Tata is leaving no stone unturned to resurrect the figure and enhance the same by triple folds.
At present, vendors are supplying components for an average of about 10,000 units of Nano a month. They have been told to scale it up by three times by March 2011.
A Tata Motors vendor was quoted as saying on various developments.
With an order backlog of nearly 100,000 Nano cars already lying on to be completed, they won’t be able to quench the demand by the current figures of production and thus, the reported said of action is a must on the priorities list of the company.
The company has also plans to export the world’s cheapest car to various countries, one such being Napal, and its understandable that they would have to speed up the production wheels to cater to ensuing demands from various folds.
Off late, the only problem a Tata vehicle has faced is the lack of quality factor in their vehicles and with so much units of Nano to be rolled out, it becomes a matter of concern as to how much quality is being restored in the current lot of cars.
