Posted on September 7th 2008Welcome back!
Tata Motors have revealed an electric version of its Indica at SIAM annual Expo in New Delhi. Left drive car showcased is the running model with the Air Bags as a standard and is being produced in association the Norwegian partners. The new car will be launched in Norway in 2009.

This is one of the technologies that we are looking at, as you know that electric cars are almost zero emission. Right now we want to test it out in Norway with the Norwegian party. Because, you know, lot of infrastructure is required for electric vehicles and … in Norway, they are making arrangements for electric cars. We will bring that to India at an appropriate time.
- Mr. Ravi Kant (Tata Motors Managing Director) said.
The Indica EV features:
- Advanced Polymer Lithium-ion battery
- Stable magnet synchronous electric motor
- Capable single-speed transmission
The car will sprint 175kms to 200 kms on complete charge which takes approximately eight hours. The ‘2-pack’ battery pack is positioned carefully in boot.

Tata Motors are growing in a big way.The upcoming ultra-cheap car Nano is still talk of the town and they have already started with other project. The Indica electric is a great idea and it will definitely click the market. But India will have to wait for some more time for this green car.
