Take a Bow! New Ambassador is Ready to Take off Next Year!
Posted on August 17th 2010Welcome back!

Everyone must have seen the Ambassador model, right folks?
More than being a proper car for masses, the car has been a hot favorite amongst leaders of diverse political parties for decades.
Come February and the same model is destined to get altogether a rejuvenated look!
Yes, Hindustan motors have decided to unveil a new version of their age old model, the ambassador by early next year.
The ensuing car is believed being upgraded with an enriched supply of technological tools of concurrent times.
Though the car would get nourished with new features, the look of the model is speculated to be kept as same like present, thereby placing it in the category of heritage cars.
The exterior will get an evolution of the retro theme that the Ambassador is being built around for decades. The interiors are expected to get luxurious tweaks and new age creature comforts
The engines will come in petrol and diesel options ranging from 1.5-litre to 2.0-litre capacities. The vehicle shall also be in BS-V adherence of emission norms.
An executive at the discretion of the company was stated as saying on the new features of the upcoming new car.
The grapevine is that even the old model shall be continued for selling even when the new model makes an entry.
It’s a good move from the company to provide some present cutting edge features to the old model, making it revive its product line; else the product would have been phased out, making it another model to follow the decline process of product life cycle.

If I were incharge of updating the Amby this is what I would do :
Put in present gen BS V engines both diesel and petrol variants sourced from Japan/, Europe, transverse mounted with front wheel drive, totally revamped brakes and suspension up front and in the rear, cut down on the luggage space, flatten the roof with a slight backward slant, slanting window line, completely rust proof the body and warrant it rust free for 5 years. Test the body for aerodynamics in a wind tunnel for low drag coefficient and discard the name Ambassador totally. Nothing visible in the present Amby must be seen in this new car. I would call this HM Swank. The finish must be super deluxe - paint, upholstery et all. HM should know that Daimler Benz makes taxi models also as well as super luxury cars.
