The Skoda Rapid has been launched on 16 November this year. This new model marks the official entry into the premium compact sedan section of the country along with the Volkswagen Vento, its German cousin. Already its 1600 bookings have been done. The Fast arrival of this new model this month seems to have done its part in strengthening November sales of Skoda to its 2,628 units, a notable increase of almost 43 percent for the company over the similar period previous year.

Commenting on the visible signs of long-term success for the new Rapid sedan in India, Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Board Member, Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto India said, “We have recently entered the most competitive C segment in India with the Rapid and expect it to become the bestseller within the ŠKODA family. We already have over 1,600 bookings so far and the response to the Rapid has been phenomenal. We are excited and confident about our plans and promise to offer the best value to our customers.”

Skoda Rapid is the first car of its type that has been introduced completely in this market as part of Skoda Auto as worldwide limousine strategy. Skoda for convenience has created a devoted online portal for the sale of new Skoda model Rapid, where people who want to purchase it are able to book their car easily and even track its progress online until they get the final delivery of the car. Skoda got eighteen bookings for its new model within only one hour once the Online Booking Engine started.

The Volkswagen in India to work constantly towards enlarging its dealerships network owns premium carmaker. Skoda has almost 90 dealerships at present in India and is expecting to increase it to 100 until the end of 2011. Rapid is also making its constant progress.
