Skoda is well set to compete in the current scenario of Indian automobiles, by manufacturing advanced engines and building tough and sportier looking cars. Skoda is making a strong statement with constantly keeping up with the tide.

The Czech car company which now is an enterprise of the world’s leader in car manufacturing, Volkswagen has made a plan to launch its mid-sized sedan the ‘Rapid’ which is seen as a direct competition to the Volkswagen Vento. Even though, Skoda is a part of the Volkswagen family, the car company is going to have a head to head competition with the Vento, which is getting good reviews and is up the sales charts of the company.
Skoda is known for its classy high segment sedans and these cars are very unique in its look and overall design. The car company has earlier launched cars like the Skoda Fabia, Skoda Octavia and Superb to name a few.
Skoda, the Czech company now ready for the showdown with the ‘Rapid’, ready to get launched. This is seen as a VW Vento’s challenger and is classified in the mid sized sedan segment. Skoda has made use of this ‘Rapid’ symbol many a times in the past and it is lined up for a return when the sedan is going to be launched during Diwali this year.
The VW Vento and the Skoda Rapid are said to have been built on the same floor according to the designers. Further, the car will share most mechanical bits and spare parts with the VW midsized sedan which does include the engine as well. Hence, it is said that the Rapid will come with the similar 1.6 petrol and diesel engines, both of which are powered with 105 horse power.
On the other hand, keeping in mind, the positioning of the two brands in the Indian market, Skoda is said to price its Rapid, slightly below the price of the Vento, and also there might be a deletion of a couple of features and it is said that those specific parts might be deleted from the upcoming Rapid’s equipment list too.
Sources from Skoda have claimed that the Czech car company is planning to shake up the market a bit by launching a much more cheaper and affordable version of the Rapid. It is also predicted that the Rapid will be priced in close proximity to Maruti Suzuki SX4, which has a price tag of approximately Rs 7 lakh (INR) for the petrol, and for the diesel variant, the price would be a little higher at Rs 7.80 lakh (INR) (Ex-Showroom Delhi).
The Vision D concept car, shown in Geneva is the inspirational design language for the Rapid and is thought to be based on it. The Rapid is going to have a wider grille with simple but bold lines and beautifully designed surfaces, which could probably make the look of this car more appealing than that of the VW Vento.
One Skoda trait, which is its hatch, is going to be found missing on the car, and this is something that has been cut down so that the car would be priced on a lower scale. Instead, of the usual rear, the Rapid will get a traditional boot space to keep the luggage. News is that the Rapid is also likely to get Skoda’s updated chrome, on black label that looks much more modern and trendier.
