Skoda Launches New Superb in India

Posted on March 11th 2009

Welcome back!

Skoda Auto India launched a upgraded version of its sedan Superb in India. The upgraded Superb is priced at Rs. 18.88 lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is the discount rate for Indians, as older models are available at more than Rs. 20.1 lacs.

New Skoda Superb launched

The new Superb available with 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine. It also has few additional features such as parking sensor (front & rear), pedal shift for 7-speed gearbox and 8-front & rear seat airbags.

India is an extremely price sensitive market where we got the pricing wrong for our earlier models. All our future cars would be very aggressively priced.

- Mr. Thomas Kuehl (SAI Head (sales & marketing)) said.

SAI had sold 522 units of Superb in April-February 2009 in India. Now they are looking to sell minimum 1000 cars in 2009.

The company is also planning to launch its SUV Yeti and a new version of its sedan Laura in Indian market.

Tata has raised the prestige of India by showing the world the technological competance. For a realistic comparison we should look at China, there is a model from Cherry for 5200 $ which has dual air bags and features available in mid segment cars in India. So with specification of Nano a 2500$ car could have been built there. Of course creating a specification for a middle class person to migrate from 2 wheeler to 4 heeler is the real achievement and full marks to to Tatas.

this is in response to the statement “SAI had sold 522 units of Superb in April-February 2009 in India. Now they are looking to sell minimum 1000 cars in 2009.”

I think skoda should first rectify its after sales services and check what are their dealers and workshop people do to their customers once the car is sent to the workshop for repairs or services. first of all skoda never has spares availble whether its a small part like to seat belt retractors or a sun roof ….

i am an owner of 2 skoda lauras and i can tell you that its really an ordeal to get your things work. Skoda is one the worst service provider atleast for me.
