Škoda’s Global Sales Inch Closer To A New High

Skoda Auto, one of the majors of the Indian automobile sector has has inched closer to a milestone. Skoda auto is less than a quarter of a million vehicles away from a record breaking landmark from selling a million vehicles in a single financial year.

For the first time ever, Skoda Auto sold 762, 600 vehicles worldwide in 2010 and hopes to continue its successful run and build on the growth spree.

The company has decided to double its sales records to 1.5 millions by 2018.

The year 2011 is – exactly 20 years after the entry of Volkswagen – a year of setting the course and setting out to new horizons for Škoda,

Dr. H.C. Winfried Vahland, chairman of the board of Skoda, was quoted as saying during an annual conference at Prague.

During the first two months, Skoda has shown a surge with the increase of almost 25 percent, 132, 000 vehicles, compared to the last fiscal year worldwide. Nevertheless, its Indian subsidiary also showed a growth of 39.17 %, from February over January, 2011.

When compared to a total sales figure of 1805 vehicles sold in the last month, Skoda Auto also has managed to sell around 2515 units and it shows a good growth path for the auto biggie.

Dr. H.C Winfried Vahland, Chairman of the board of Skoda was further quoted as saying on the growth path that the company has already taken to be on the top.

Skoda Auto also has managed to analyze the market conditions for growth in core European markets and have observed it to be a bit moderate. Having said that, the company continues to expect a dynamic growth opportunities in key booming markets in developing and developed countries like India, Russia and China.

Skoda is ready to invest huge sum of money in key areas like new product development and product launches. It also wants the product shape up in such a way that it’s able to excite the end-users and the company is able to create a positive brand value too.

Among the events set to be seen from Skoda Auto this year, the first launch would be a ‘city car’. This compact sedan is expected to be positioned between Skoda Fabia and Skoda Octavia (Laura) and seems like a perfect extension of highly fuel-efficient and economical vehicles, especially being targeted for some key emerging markets like India.
