Revised Chevrolet Captiva to be re-launched in mid 2011

Posted on May 24th 2011

Welcome back!

Chevrolet is going to launch this refreshed Captiva sooner than later in Indian market.  Testing of the Chevrolet Captiva was in progress before its launch in India. The Captiva has a 181bhp 2.2-litre engine, with a smooth six speed automatic transmission, four-wheel drive and seven seats. Although there might be an option in the offering of a six-speed manual gearbox attached with the same layout.

In many ways this new Chevrolet Captiva is going to prove a big step forward for the company, and is said to be the much needed boost over the pre-facelift model which was not welcomed by the buyers. While the most significant improvements come in terms of refinement and power delivery, the exteriors and interiors have supplementary changes, which will not be major ones. The car is going to see some upgrades to the cabin insulation and reports suggest that these new interiors will make the Captiva more comfy from inside giving it a more relaxing, spacious place to cover longer miles. Also, due to the refined engine, the car is going to run with much less engine noise and the added vibration creeping into the cockpit too will be lessened. Also, the Chevy Captiva will get a more punchy motor, making it an overall pleasurable ride.

Equipped with a six speed version, the torque converted by the engine will offer good response across the range of the gear shifts, as the automatic transmission gear box will make slightly lagging, yet well-judged shifts.

For all of that the Chevy Captiva is not the most rewarding drive train, but it is going to be effective in due course of time. All it needs to do is to improve its engine specifications and the level of refinement, and then it would be really likeable because it will encourage an easy-going and laid-back style of driving. The Chevy Captiva’s chassis set-up has been a touch modified for the 2011 facelift. This is with the intention of adding to it that crucial ‘sport’ element of an SUV.

Also, this will help in making it a proper driver’s car and can be driven with the much needed passion, with its suspension and braking system being really good from the time it was first launched. And while the steering is currently good, insiders say that it may even get marginally better tuned. With all this in mind, this car is going to be a distinctly crispy car to drive, and that too with relatively more energetic engine attributes. This car could get the 19-inch alloy wheel that all top end SUVs and LTZ models get as standard.

Reports suggest that the test car did settle down on smoother main roads and highways, but there has been too much of jogging and jarring over the typical rural, under constructed roads. It is really not unforgivable because Chevy has not made enough changes with its ride quality, as it may prove disadvantageous for the buyers who have gone for the new Chevy Captiva’s look and exterior appeal. The older Captiva has had quite a few problems, and the new one should really try to focus more on those drawbacks, and be a more practical car which in turn will be comfy for the off roads. There are no two opinions about it, that when the new Captiva will be launched, it will be a much better car for sure.
