Mahindra Reva is going through the testing procedures for its new lithium-ion battery EV (Electric Vehicle) REVA NXR at the IT city, Bangalore. The car was spotted out on different roads in Bangalore. Reva NXR is going to be a three door four seater EV and having the top speed of 104 kmph covering 160 km distance in one charge. REVA NXR car can cover distance of 320 km per day with consumption of 90 minutes fast charge. The estimated price for Reva NXR would be around Rs 10 lakh.

Reva NXR will be equipped with some advanced features like keyless operation, Dual charge port, Digital Display and SMS alerts. Reva electric, one of the leading electric car makers in India was acquired by Mahindra Group. Reva has been doing a handsome business since 2001. Reva was born as a joint venture of two foreign companies, Detroit’s General motors and Silicon Valley VC fund Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Moreover, Recently Reva has also tied up with General Motors for the production of Chevrolet Spark Electric Vehicle. This is indeed a milestone in the journey of Indian automobile industry as this is for the first time that an Indian company will be manufacturing EVs for US based General Motors.Reva is one the most popular electric cars in India which is likely to come with a new logo and a different brand name after its merger with Mahindra. The name Reva and the present logo will be used in sales unless and until both Reva and Mahindra get a new logo and some different name. By 2012 Mahindra and Reva have set a target of expanding their sales to 50 different countries. The Managing Director of Reva, Mr. Chetan Maini has already commented that they would be aiming to expand Reva to 40- 50 countries.

With the ever increasing fuel prices, all the other automakers too are looking forward to invest handsomely in electric vehicles. Automobile companies like Honda, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan Subaru, and General Motors are working on the EV concept taking into consideration their ever increasing demands. These days hybrid cars are catching the eye at the outset in the auto industry. Honda Civic hybrid and Toyota Prius have had decent sales in the recent time.
