Proton to Cruise on Indian RoadsThe vivacious Indian car market, be it small or mid- size sector has lured investors and manufacturer from across the globe to taste a share of the pie of the potentially huge market.According to the line of events, many players like Volkswagen’s Polo, Nissan Micra who announced and launched their automobile excellences on the Indian shore and now it seems like is the reaped time for the Malaysian automobile giant, Proton to foray in the customized Indian car market.

As earlier reported, Proton had been trying to zoom in to the Indian car sector but things were not sorted out earlier, but, the news is rife they are in talks with Mahindra & Mahindra to launch their cars, eventually.

Neither of the companies has confirmed this piece of information every auto buff would jump by.

However, a perspective tie-up between the two is likely to happen soon. Earlier, Proton was linked with the contract manufacturer Argentum Motors, who had acquired the defunct Daewoo, but the deal had fallen apart then.

Proton has recognized that the Indian market is having robust sales despite the economic crisis and hence is leaving any stone unturned to make the news a reality.

The company would intensify its export program to diversify into various market segments and reduce dependence on the domestic market

Proton Holdings Berhad Managing Director H S Z A B Syed Mohamed Tahir was quoted as saying on his future set of actions.

On this note, we will be launching new programs regionally, specifically in China, India and the Middle East. Proton will leave no stone unturned in our vision to strengthen our brand equity within the local and regional arena,

Tahir also said in response to his company’s strategies for the new profit-yielding markets he was vying to buffer in.

All said and done, auto fans will have to wait for the Proton to actually land on the Indian roads as it was clear as to when the prospective launch would eventually happen.
