Patent Security for Tata Nano

To save its brand (Nano) against constraint in the small car industry, Tata Motors has applied for patent protection on 37 inventions & innovations linked to the cheapest car of the world, Nano. It’s also planning to apply for IPRs (Intellectual Property Rights) claims for Nano in the overseas markets.

To make the Nano car unique, the company has used several new ideas and concepts. These patents will assist it in saving these innovations and inventions.

Nano is being set for its domestic launch on 23rd March’09 and globally in 2011. Tata Motors has filed 400+ patent and design applications for their vehicles & its processes.

As far as the Tata Nano is concerned, 37 inventions have been filed for patent protection so far to cover all the innovations in the car. We are also considering filing IPs on Nano in overseas locations at an appropriate time… Most of the patent applications filed before 2007 have already been granted.

    It is a wise decision taken by the Tata Nano. This one lakh car is definitely a unique model and it deserve the patent security.
