Welcome back!

The Polo Cup has been flagged off with a new hope of racing events in India. Well this is not the first time where Pune has faced loud revs. The Polo Cup itself is a big craze for those auto junkies out there in lids. Balewadi stadium is the perfect spot where high action racing can be done.

Well there is no racing track in the stadium which can be used but yes barricades in way makes it a perfect race track. It was 9.20am when I reached office. The first update on my screen was the coverage of Polo Cup. Yes good old days were back again after a long time after the Super car show. Took the camera from the box and headed straight to Balewadi Stadium. Once all the formalities were complete regarding registration of AutoIndiaForum there was no stopping for covering minute details of the event.

Inside the stadium loud rev noises were coming and I am impressed. Practice sessions for the Go Karts cars were taking place. I could hear every bit of those mini racing engines. The setup of race show was done in perfect manner. Race Marshals were setup which ensured the event to be done in safe manner.

The Job of a Race Marshal needs to be composed. He needs to keep a constant check on the track and race drivers. If any mishap or problem happens it is his duty to look after the incident. I wanted to check the entire track which was located in the Stadium locality. The track setup was perfect and met all the specifications which were required for a race.

It had straights and curves which could be handled by cornering tactics. Once inside the stadium a practice session was going on where there were different types of Go Karts practicing. The first day did not have that much craze with the real cars. The Polo was resting in the Pits. A quick way to the pit lane was made where all the 20 beauties were parked. All of them had high tuned brakes with pre ABS onboard. It even had a roll cage bar which ensured safety of drivers. Slicks were installed on all Polo’s which were according to race format. Though there were some cars which had wet tires installed.

Volkswagen had ensured all the drivers and the entire event gets a preview of how races are performed in European countries. They even wanted to ensure the working of the new Polo is according to race format. It had all those gizmos which are required for a race car. The regular display of the car was revamped with a custom race display which is used in most races. The entire car was looking different, VW ensured not to change it looks but modification was done to its interiors and handling.

The Polo was lighter than before and this could be felt when the car was in motion. It was around 1pm and the crowd was gathering as the Go Kart even was about to begin. 5laps of safety car with Go Kart had begun and they were loud enough to crack a passing car’s windshield.
