No Plans To Launch Any Smaller Car Then 800 - Maruti

Due to market speculations Maruti is planning to launch a 660cc engine car priced at Rs 1.5 lakh to compete with Tata Motor’s small and cheap car – Nano. But, they has issued that there is no plans to launch any low price car in India.
According to the press statement:
Maruti offered the first People’s Car, Maruti 800, about 24 years ago. Since then, India’s middle class and Maruti’s customers have grown in every facet of their lives. Their incomes have gone up significantly. Their lifestyles have improved in ways that were hard to imagine a decade ago. Within the space of a generation, the “People” who bought “People’s Cars” have transformed almost beyond recognition.
Suzuki and Maruti had given the strategic models to the world. This strategic model includes the cars such as SX4, Swift and Grand Vitara. Therefore the Indian customers will get international style and quality.
In coming years, they are planning to launch World Strategic Models such as A-Star and Splash, to offer the international style and quality to customers in India at an attractive cost.
Maruti is planning to replace its new series of cars with the K Series – a GenNext engine. The engine is 1st one which will be 1st visible in Maruti’s new version A-Star.
