nissan-logo2.jpgA day after declaring a low-price $2500 car in joint venture with Bajaj, Nissan has now planned to go solo and debut an ntry level car in Indian market by 2010.

Nissan will compete in the entry-car with a dedicated platform that will be used for at least three models built in five leading competitive countries (LCCs), the first of which will be produced in Thailand and India in early 2010.

- Mr. Carlos Ghosn (President and CEO of Nissan) said.

According to him, the A-platform models will be easy to source and localize in leading competitive countries, maintaining a high level of price competitiveness while providing an attractive vehicle options for entry level clients. Currently they have zero entry level car sales, so there are sufficient chances for improvement.

The entry level car will be launched as a part of their plans to expand a family of global entry cars intended at offering affordable models to a big section of society.

Our plans are twofold: First, Nissan cars based on a new A platform and, below, a Nissan version of the alliance ultra-low-cost car, being developed with Bajaj and planned to be launched in 2011.
