New Passenger Car from Hindustan Motors
Posted on July 1st 2008Welcome back!
Maker of Iconic Ambassador cars in India, Hindustan Motors, is planning to launch their passenger car in Indian market. HM shall introduce their latest passenger in October in union with Mitsubishi Motors, the Japanese Car Manufacturer.
The decreasing sale’s slop of their top surviving car, Ambassador, has forced the company to look out for the new ventures. The company had introduced their new car Contessa in 1980 which was publicly withdrawn in the year 2003.
The company has, on its own, developed a new platform for the car. Though we have taken some technical inputs from others, the design is entirely our own.
- Mr. R. Santhanam (MD of HM) said.
The car will be produced at HM’s plant in Uttarpara in West Bengal where its model is being thoroughly tested. The plant has a capacity of 25000 units but creates on 12000 Ambassador Units from its developed line.
HM also has the making unit near Chennai at Thiruvallur which presently creates Mitsubishi vehicles. It is also the only manufacturing base for Mitsubishi in India.

I also read about HM plans. It is nice to know that makers of Ambassador are thinking of rolling out their car. The Indian auto industry is booming up and the competition is very high too. But when is the car expected and with what price tag?
