Maruti to Start 110 New Driving Schools and 10 Research Institutes

India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is planning to set up 8 to 10 new institutes of IDTR (Driving Training & Research) and 110 MDS (Maruti Driving Schools) across country by 2010, with an intend to train 5 lakh people within coming 3-years.
There is an urgent need for creating awareness about road safety. As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility activities, we have planned to set up 8-10 IDTRs and 110 MDSs by 2010 across the country.
- Mr. R K Parimoo (Maruti Suzuki General Manager) said.
On the fees, he stated that it could be as less as Rs 100 /day and as high as Rs 600 to Rs 700 /day depending on financial background of individuals, who register for training and programs.
The industry presently runs 2 IDTRs in Delhi and 40 MDSs at different locations and has prepared about 4.5 lakh people over the last ten years.
Mr. Parimoo said that their aim is to prepare minimum 5 lakh people in a next3 years. To begin with, the industry would set up 4-IDTRs by 1st quarter of 2009, of which 2 would start in Haryana and 1 each in Uttarakhand and Gujarat.
We are also in advanced stages of talks with four more states — Bihar, Rajasthan Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Some progress have already been made and soon we will go to these states as well.

I think this is a good move made by Maruti Motors.
