It’s a moment that has made history for Maruti Suzuki!

Maruti Suzuki, India’s numero uno car manufacturer has got another feather in its already decorated cap. Maruti Suzuki has today rolled out its 10 millionth (1 Crore) car.

The landmark car was a Metallic Breeze Blue colored Wagon R VXi rolled out from company’s Gurgaon plant. With this landmark achievement, Maruti Suzuki becomes the first Indian car company that makes its entry to the select elite club of automobile companies spread across the world who have achieved this milestone.

The company started its stint with success with the rolling out and handling over of its first car, the Maruti 800 to the first customer in 1983, Maruti manufactured the first millionth car in 1994. The production reached two millions in 1997 itself. The next big milestone of 5 million cars was achieved in April, 2005; almost 22 years after Maruti Suzuki had unrolled its first car.

Providing you an inside perspective, Customers have shown considerable amount of faith in Maruti automobiles and that has helped the company to significantly improve its revenue over the years. As a result, Maruti Suzuki posted total revenue of Rs. 301,197 million during 2009-10. The company registered revenue of 203,583 million in 2008-09 which was more as compared to the revenue of 178, 603 in 2007-08.

As we reach this historic landmark, we thank our founding partners who laid a solid foundation of values and practices. We thank our customers who have brought us this far. The commitment of employees and continued strong support of business associates has played a critical role all through the journey. Their enthusiasm and commitment is especially reflected in manufacturing around 5 million units just in the last 6 years. Today is a day of pride for the full Maruti Suzuki family.

On the joyous occasion, Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, was quipped as saying.

Well, Maruti has indeed been a niche name in product variation, features, prices and most importantly the customer satisfaction. Its never tiring attitude to always make something better has helped it maintain the numero uno slot in the country for so long.

With more surprises still to be unlocked by the company later this year, 2011 seems to be going great guns for the auto major.
