The Car

Maruti Suzuki India-the Indian car market leader brought the all new Maruti Ritz in New Delhi on May 15, 2009 in both petrol and diesel options. With this launch the company came up with yet another global hatchback. Initially the name of this model was to be Splash; but later it had to be changed as some registration problems cropped up.

Maruti Ritz set the sales chart on fire in no time after the launch. It is the fifth global launch of the company after the successful launches of Swift, Grand Vitara, SX4 and A-Star being the first four members. Ritz has been designed on an altogether new platform; however there are a few similarities among the production versions of Ritz, Swift and SX4. Ritz is interspersed with a C-pillar design which makes it special. Maruti launched Ritz at the premium end of the highly competitive Indian compact car market.

Ritz is a car with EMC i.e.Electro Magnetic Compatibility compliance. This is a widely used technology in the European countries. The car is an ELV compliant as well i.e. substances like cadmium, mercury and chromium which prove harmful to the environment have not at all been used in the production of Ritz.

Moreover, the car engineers have also introduced the drive-by-wire technology in Ritz in all its variants. This technology along with the 32-bit Engine Management system helps a great deal in enhancing the car performance with faster signal processing and quick response.

Maruti Ritz LDi is the base model of diesel version fully loaded with features like 60:40 folding rear seat, ashtray, iCATS, cup holder in console, child lock, manual air conditioner, power steering, body colored bumpers, internally adjusted ORVMs, green tinted glass windows, roof antenna and double horn. Let’s check out the prominent features of the make.

Exteriors

Maruti Suzuki always brings in the models which would all your senses and these makes are not just for the casual glance; they steal the show and catch the eye of the speed lovers. The car engineers seem to have paid utmost attention to the external looks of the vehicle. The car got a commanding position in the reputed A-2 hatchback space; thanks to the regal looks of the car.

Maruti Ritz LDi has got a thicker C-pillar in the rear part which is quite unlike traditional hatchbacks and there is also a smaller quarter glass which would remind you of Swift. The overall width of Ritz is 1.68 meters and we get an 8cm wider car than Wagon R+. The smartly designed headlights of Ritz LDi put up a splendid show and help make the car look trendy and sporty. The headlights are ingeniously integrated with a trapezoidal grille which gives Ritz a new face and an identity.

The front end of the car wears some fine energy absorbing structures which are meant for the safety of the pedestrians. The prestigious Suzuki logo has been placed in the center of the front grille which makes it look extremely aggressive and trendy. Ritz LDi is a streamlined and not a boxy model.

The crease lines on the sides offer a unique and trendy look to the make. The tailgate of Ritz LDi has been designed in an inward obtuse angle. This is something which is prominent in French hatchbacks. Here are a few prominent exterior features of the all new Ritz LDi.

  • Body colored bumpers
  • Powerful headlamps
  • Adjustable ORVMs
  • Boomerang tail lamps
  • Fog lights- rear
  • Manually adjustable exterior rear view mirror
  • Electric Folding Rear View Mirror
  • Tinted Glass

Interiors

Ritz is a small car; but with good room; especially the headroom and the interior roominess is a major turn on for the potential car buyers. Also the functionality and configurability of the vehicle are just uncompromising. The rear seat has been designed a bit higher than the front one and this provides a good view out to all the Ritz occupants. This is a proper four seater and you find it spacious enough for five at a squeeze. You can see the plenty of storage space which includes a flip lid box on the top of the dashboard, a tray in front of the front passenger and a fair glove box.

You may have the initial impression that boot space here is small, but you find a big hidden compartment under the false floor and also the space saver spare wheel. The rear seats can be folded down easily as the cushion cranks forward which makes enough space for the descending backrest.

The colored surfaces of the dashboard give Ritz a youthful interior look. The area of the passenger airbag as well as the upper part of the instrument cluster has a casual look. The cockpit of the car forms a stylish and functional space without any flamboyance. A large speedometer has been positioned in the center behind the steering wheel which is easy to read with all the indicator lamps arranged around.
