Maruti Records 15% Sales Growth In April’09

India’s largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has recorded 15 percent growth in its sales in April’09. The company sold 71,748 cars in April as compared to 62,336 cars during the same month last year.
According to company, this is the 4th consecutive month of sales crossing 70K units mark.
The company has registered a domestic sales growth of 9 percent, which include 64,8857 units as compared to 59,539 units during the same month last year.
The company recorded a decline in a sales of their most popular and oldest model Maruti 800 by 47 percent. It sold 2,345 cars of M800 in April’09 as compared to 4,458 cars in the same month last year. But, the company’s A2 segment models’ sales (includes Alto, Wagon R, Zen, A-star & Swift) increased by 9%.
