Mahindra is all set to announce the new launching of global SUV, the XUV 500. This new launching is going to hit the roads. A greatly anticipated Global SUV of Mahindra is all set for creating new segment. The growth of Mahindra in the SUV sector has surely been on the high rise as it introduced the rocky Scorpio and all-rounder Xylo to the Indian market. Due to this dual success, Mahindra is also going to launch its global SUV call as the XUV 500. The question can come to your mind that why Mahindra has decided to give this new launching the name XUV. The answer to this question is this launching is the next generation SUV for Mahindra that is set to process the SUV game further and therefore they decided to give SUV term further with the term XUV.
As we have got a clear idea about why this new launching is given that particular name, we will not move to the product itself. Mahindra is trying to position this new launching XUV 500 between Scorpio and the premium SUV range that consists of Chevrolet Captiva, Mitubishi Outlander, Toyota Fortuner, Honda CR-V and the likes. As there is no manufacturer available in that sector, it is the best chance for Mahindra to become the first to play this field. Only the unusual however very capable Skoda Yeti can be considered as the closest competition of XUV 500 however time can tell that.
The XUV 500 is designed completely in R & D center of Mahindra in Chennai; XUV 500 brings plenty of openings for Mahindra. The new launching of XUV 500 is set to be the country’s first wonderfully developed monocoque SUV. It is also the first to provide people a transverse engine layout. As the new launching XUV 500 will be a global vehicle, it designed with global standards of testing norms, quality, technology, regulations and releases right from the beginning. The manufacturing of this vehicle has been scheduled at Chakan facility of M&M in Maharashtra.
Mahindra is set to get its XUV 500 on both Indian as well as International roads as for the launch before the end of the year. The countries like South Africa and India will be the first to get it before it makes its way to the countries like South East Asia and Australia. People will see the XUV 500 is available in 4×2 and 4×4 variants. Mahindra is eagerly waiting for the launching of its new product. Mahindra is not sure about whether or not XUV 500 will get the attention of the people and take the benefit of being the sector starter, only time may tell.

This is good news. with Tata Aria and Xuv 500. The Indian customer will have better choices. The question is however , Indian manufacturers are notorious for releasing low quality products into the market for the first model. Unlike the Japanese who do thorough testing before launch, Indian manufacturers use the first brave Indian customers as guinea pigs for live testing. Its the mark 2 that usually have most of the bugs solved.
In India I would only buy a Indian brand as the sales service and maintenance network is better. I am in the market for a Aria or the new xuv 500.It however scares me to buy the launch model. prefer to wait for mark 2
Having said that, Mahindra has better build quality than a Tata brand. While Tata has big ambitions and great homework done on blue prints. Their executing engineers need to be fired. Mahindra has managed to execute closer to concept in terms of build quality.
The later models of Scorpio had seen a marked deterioration in spare part assembly quality.
So, I am hoping , the spare parts procurement division of Mahindra does not let down the so called “global brand” of Mahindra. or worse the old Indian “export quality” is miles apart from “Indian quality”
All the above being more of a mindset problem with Indian manufacturers , than a technical challenge to them.
I do really wish, someone comes up with a AWD automatic. I do miss my Volvo AWD automatic, not seen a good brand in India as yet, to give me the same pleasure
Lets see if the product execution matches the hype in build quality and reliability.
May the best man win
