Latest Development in Airbag Connector Solutions - AK2+ESD Squib by FCI

FCI has launched its AK 2 + ESD Squib (Electro Static Discharge) in the market. It is the first commercially offered airbag connector to combine the grounding function in a squib connector itself.
The new AK2+ ESD connector solution is the result of a partnership with VW/Audi and is due to be employed for the first time in a VW model scheduled for launch in early summer 2010. As an established leader in Safety Restraint Systems (SRS), FCI Motorized Vehicle division remains committed to listening to customer requirements.

Along with increasing consistency and cutting assembly cost, the AK 2 +ESD squib reduces potential misfire produced due to ESD with fully integrated grounding. Thus it allows safe & secure grounding traceability.
The FCI plant located in Kochi in India has begun to develop these ESD-Squibs for local market also.The new airbag connector maintains complete compatibility with the existing standards plus patented mate aid function of FCI, CPA.
