Japanese Auto Imports Come To A Grinding Halt After Tsunami

It’s now a known fact that Japan has been swept away by one of the most destructive natural calamity ever. The devastating earthquake in the ‘land of the rising sun’ resulting in a Tsunami has put a hold on all the activities from Japanese economy.
The country is facing an emergency with even risk of nuclear radiation now cropping up; it is not at all in a position to do trade in any manner. For the same reason, the import of some of key parts for some high end cars and spare parts would be on hold till situation improves.
As a result, Japanese automobile companies that are having branches in India will also be forced to stop the import of spare parts from the home country.
The operations in the country are badly affected with this tsunami and thus the import will not be continued from here. The company is trying to figure out the impact of this natural devastation on the vendors of Japan which usually supplies spare parts to the company branch in Indian auto market. In India, the company is holding a stake of 55% and is the largest automobile company in India.
Shashank Shrivastava, Chief General Manager (Marketing), Maruti Suzuki was quipped as saying.
Providing you an insight, Maruti Suzuki is involved in importing engines and gears form Japan for its India bound cars like Maruti Suzuki, Maruti Dzire etc. Given the situation, it will prevent smooth flow of components from Japan. This is also deemed to slow down the Indian operation for Maruti Suzuki in the competition marred Indian automobile market.
Honda also imports some key parts for its luxury car Honda Accord, and its being talked about in the market that the natural calamity in Japan is set to hugely affect the car maker maintain an efficient sales record till situation improves.
Honda Accord is a fast selling model in India and given the current situation in Japan, the model is set to give its targeted customers longer waiting periods soon.
Here is praying for the situation to improve in Japan and things become normal for many automobile companies so that the heat could not be felt on their economies.
