Jaguar & Land Rover Cars to Hit Indian Roads In June

Jaguar & Land Rover now led by Tata Motors will start selling its premium brands in India later this year (June 2009).
From the Jaguar range, Tata Motors will bring Jaguar XF & XKR, while LR will sell Discovery & Range Rover models in the Indian market. According to company officials, the company is planning to open its showrooms and more number of Jaguar car models has been imported for primary use in a Tatas’ Taj Mahal Hotels in India.
It is an important strategic move for JLR and will enable us to realise our competitive potential in this significant market. We are delighted to be formally entering the Indian market, an economy which is still growing appreciably.

The newly formed dealership will open their first showroom at Ceejay House in Worli, in June’09 and distribution of cars will be looked after the new branch of the luxury cars held by the Tata Motors. The cars will be imported as CBU in the country and therefore will be costly because of the high duty structures in India.

Good to hear this. Would be happy to see them on the roads :-). (Not that I can afford these). Just wonder how many of these would sell in India where the 3 pointed star is the symbol of having arrived closely followed by BMW and Audi. The import taxes are not going to help either.

wud love to c an XF or XK/XKR on indian roads ….but the present XJ is too hideous for indian audience
