India In Top 15 Automakers

With the rapidly growing auto industry, India has reached to the top 15 auto manufacturers of the world and takes the 4th place in leading developing countries’ category of motor vehicles makers.

According to UNIDO International Yearbook of Industrial Statistics 2008, India ranks the 12th in list of worlds leading 15 automakers which is led by the Japan followed by United States and Germany. Other countries are UK, Mexico, France, Canada, Korea, Spain, Iran, Brazil, Italy, Sweden and Indonesia.

In leading developing countries group, India ranks 4th, which is led by Mexico followed by Korea and Iran. The 5th position is held by Brazil, followed by the Indonesia, Turkey, Argentina, Thailand, Singapore, China, Malaysia, UAE and Columbia.

India also numbers among world’s top 15 makers of chemicals and chemical products, electrical machines and apparatus, essential metals (iron & steel, non-ferrous metals), coke, nuclear fuel, refined petroleum products, non-metallic mineral products, leathers, leather products and footwears and textiles, the report states.
