Welcome back!

Hyundai Motors is the second largest car manufacturer and largest car exporter in India, planning to launch i20 diesel model this year in India. Hyundai i20 is the most recent model from Hyundai Motors India Limited. Without much fanfare the company already launched i20 in December 2008, but the car yet not left the customers shell and Indian auto market shocked. Recently, HMIL sells the i20 model with 1.2 liter kappa petrol engine in India and now it is planning to sell the diesel variants of this model up to this year-end.

The company has sold i20 with 1.6 and 1.4 liter diesel engines, in the international market. The company will qualify for the little car excise norms due to its model i20 with 1.4 liter engine. On the other hand, the official spokesperson of the company declines to comment on any such plan.

Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales department of Hyundai Motor India, Mr Arvind Saxena said -

“We will launch the i-20 diesel for the domestic market this year. But we are yet to finalise the engine size.”

To provide better value for money to its customers, Hyundai plans to introduce a new face lifted Santro model in this year.

&lt was much waited car and made a grand entry with the petrol version into the Indian car market. The diesel version will definitely be success.Just like i10, the i20 too will make a good fortune for Hyundai.

There is no doubt that i-20 is a good car. But the lukewarm attitude towards it is due to the fact that, i-20 is a huge car but powered by an smaller engine. It should have atleast a 1400cc under its hood.
Instead of a gasoline car, should Hyundai have launched diesel car, market response could have been better.

Shubhankar! U r right. No doubt Hyundai I20 is a good car, but under powered for that size. Hyundai should have launched Diesel variant with On-Road price ranging close to 6.00/6.25 lacs for the Magna model with all the basic features that it has in petrol version. Iam sure it would have captured the Swift Diesel’s, Fabia’s, Indigo’s and some of the sedans market with that looks, comfort, and pricing. Anything beyond that price (though it falls under B+ segment premium hatchback) I dont think it can capture the market. I would be the 1st customer if its gonna come up with similar pricing.
