Hyundai i20 Asta Review
Posted on December 28th 2009Welcome back!

The Hyundai i10 was declared as “Car of the year-2008″ and the Hyundai i-series immediately came into limelight. People had already experienced Hyundai’s mastery in making fuel efficient and cost compensative cars, since long. Now by observing the expert comments and market success of i10, they showed keen interest in the next versions of i10.
![]() Hyundai used the same wave of popularity of i10 to move ahead and launched i20. Despite of it being the next level in the series, the manufacturers have made major changes, both in design and comfort level. Highlighting Features : This hatchback is put over its cousin Getz in terms of sale, considering the built up reputation for i10! The 1.4L kappa petrol engine is surely powerful (80 Bhp at 5200 rpm), and gives the driver a superb riding experience. Other expectations in terms of safety and comforts are also taken care of! Just take a look at the specification statistics! ![]() General statistics -
![]() Comments - Powered by a 1.4L, 16 valves, kappa engine i20 is capable of maintaining equilibrium between power and mileage. The gear transmission is manual with 5 gears. The exterior look of the car is engineered extremely carefully. The shapes and positions of assemblies such as transparent covered headlamps, front and back fog lamps, grille integrated ‘H’ logo, air dam, etc. are absolutely perfect. The wind screen is kept sufficiently broad and is aligned appropriately with the bonnet and the roof shape. The sunroof not only provides provision for sunlight and air, but attaches a totally different, sporty look to the car. The wheels are proportionate with the complete body of the hatchback. The car has alloy wheels, which again, is one of the prominent attractions. ![]() Most of the functioning in the car is automatic and the list includes, power windows, electrically foldable mirrors, automatic temperature control, etc.. Another point at which the car is evaluated as one of the top cars in its class is its inherent security. ABS and EBD, the commonly found security systems are included in this B+ segment. It is the first car in its segment, which provides 6 airbags - two at front, side and curtain. The other prominent feature that needs mentioning are the split folding backseats and the music system. The split folding backseats feature, which was introduced in Getz Prime, is added in i20, and makes the car absolutely spacious. The music system is a 4-speaker disc player with aux-in and USB port. Pros :
Cons :
Bottom Line : ![]() The car is a perfect hatchback which includes the basic structure of a B+ segment car plus offers many of the facilities, offered by executive cars. A great emphasis is on the security system. The antilock braking system (ABS) and electronic breakforce distribution (EBD) are the prominent in this regard. Also it has received 5star Euro NCAP rating for the extensive safety measures. The price of the car may seem a little higher, but it repays you fully, for sure. In short it is good car, a good deal. ![]() |
