Hyundai’s most popular hatchback i10 has surpassed the best selling car of the company, Santro, and became the flagship model of Hyundai.

Average sales figure of the Hyundai i10 is 12, 000 cars/month as compared Santro’s 7000 cars/month, causing the company to think about i10 as its new flagship model.

We follow a mutli-model strategy and look at consolidated sales of Santro and i10. Sales of the Santro and i10 together contribute a sizeable chunk of the compact car segment and it adds to a larger customer base.

- Mr. Arvind Saxena (Sr. VP, Hyundai Motor India) said.

For the current financial year, the company aims its Santro sales @ 85K units and the i10 to 1.4 lakhs units.

Even with higher price tag, Hyundai i10 has overtaken the Santro. Hyundai i10 was launched 2-years back and since then it has maintained its domestic sales of average 12K per month, from 6500 units. While the Hyundai Santro have dropped from 12K cars in 2000, to 7K units (current) a month.

Presently, the price of /Hyundai i10 ranges from INR 3.35 lakh to INR 5 lakh and Santro from INR 3.2 lakh to 3.6 lakh.

    The Hyundai i10 is a reliable car. It is low on fuel consumption and delivers very good performance.
