Posted on July 16th 2010Welcome back!

It seems that the Indian car market has become hot favorite amongst auto major to not only enter but also try to influence the same with their set of offerings.
To give you a brief idea about the whole episode, it can be exclaimed that the Indian low cost small car section and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) segment is set to see a battle of sorts in the price range as well as product classification, respectively.
We are talking about Hyundai’s decision to launch its high end and keenly awaited excellence on wheels, the Santa Fe SUV in India as CBU as completely Built Unit (CBUs) in the last quarter. The vehicle would come to India as CBU and poised to be priced in the range of 16-20 lakhs categories.
In an attempt to grab a decent share in the SUV segment, the Korean car maker which sells its hatchbacks and sedans is vying to do the same with the launch of very capable Santa Fe.
We will bring the Santa Fe in India in the last quarter to enhance our product portfolio
Hyundai would use a 2.2-liter CRDi diesel engine that’s tuned for 150hp. The 5-speed manual gearbox is the logical choice for the entry-evel model.
Hyundai Motor India Managing Director Mr. H.W. Park was quoted as saying.
Tracking the past records of Hyundai in the same segment, it had offered the first generation Tucson in India which was a moderate success despite its proven efficiency globally.
The auto major is poised to bring the vehicle in the festive season of October-November when people are normally in the mood to indulge in some extravagance.
We are waiting for the moment to come so that we can give you instant reaction to the Hyundai’s Santa Fe.

If Hyundai really wants to click on the Indian market with their new SUV Sante Fe they should consider the price and mileage, which is most important to anything.
Indian customers are a)Customer looks for brands they go for BMW/Audi/Mercedes etc those are not bothered of either of the above two. b) Next batch of customers looks for brands- Fortuner/Endeavour/CRV etc they don’t bother either, then c) looks for local brands Safari/Scorpio which is affordable price, tough and gives power and other facilities like any other expensive brands may consider Sante Fe is another option for them. Hyndai can capture the Indian customers falls under this segment provided offering a price tag of max. 13-15L on the road for the Sante Fe. Good luck, Sante Fe and hope your marketing team will look into all these.
