Honda Jazz to Roll Out with Price Tag of Rs. 7 lakh
Posted on May 4th 2009Welcome back!
Honda Jazz is ready to hit the Indian roads on 10th June, but it is expected to cost approximately Rs. 7 lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This will make it the most expensive hatchback model in the country. The Honda Jazz is the costly model as compared to Skoda Fabia & Hyundai i20.

The New Jazz comes with 1200cc VTEC petrol engine. It is the first model of the Honda in a big-volume small car segment.
Presently Skoda Fabia is a most-expensive compact model, carrying a price tag of Rs 4.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for a petrol edition and Rs 5.8 lakh for diesel. The company plans to sell few hundred cars per month.
The car will give a brand as well as a value proposition to customers. The idea is to create an all-new category.
- Mr. Jnaneswar Sen (Marketing Vice President for HSCI said.
Honda Jazz will feature airbag, ABS and GCON Technology (an superior passive shielding that provides the resident a survival area in case of unavoidable collisions).

I dont believe the above stated price, moreover nothing is told about the variant which will support this HUGE price tag. I dont think honda will price it this way if they r serious about volumes. 10 cars a year with this price seems a distant target. dont send such rumours, if it is true, give details of model .

7 laksh is too much money for a hatchback..Unless Honda is fixing its pricing, Jazz is going to repeat the sales history of Fabia.

I think if Honda are planning to launch a hatchback in Indian market then they must keep their prices competitive. Indian customer is cost sensitive and they also agree to compromise on safety if the cost fits their mindset. Indeed it is the only hatchback I have seen in Indian market which is fitted with so many safety features but still price could act as a deterrent for people to go to dealership showrooms. If the price could be some what between 4 to 5 lakhs then Honda could be a sweep through leader against many car manufacturers.
